The Alberta Research Portal is your gateway to a world-class collection of primary sources. This outstanding resource provides all Albertans with perpetual access to the Gale Primary Sources database, with 69 unique primary source collections, including extensive resources related to First Nations and Indigenous peoples, the Archives of Human Sexuality and Gender, Associated Press Collections, Smithsonian Collection Online, Sabin Americana, 25 titles from Gale Virtual Reference Library, to name but a few. This includes monographs, photographs, newspapers, poetry, original documents, records, and more.

High-speed Internet access is available free to the general public at the Breton Municipal Library. A waiver must be signed after reading the Internet access policy and due to the content found online, children 14 and under must have a parent sign for them. For the same reason, children eight and under must have a parent in attendance when they use the Internet.Patrons can also access high-speed Internet with their own wireless capable laptops. Just come to the desk for a username and password.We have computers available for public use. Computers may be booked ahead for 1/2 hour time slots. Phone 780-696-3740. Printing is available at 35¢ per page.

Library Membership

Breton Municipal Library welcomes all community members. Library cards are free for local residents thanks to the support of Brazeau County, the Village of Breton, and the Province of Alberta.

Books and audiobooks are loaned for a three-week period. Music CDs, periodicals, and audio-visual materials are loaned for seven days. Renewals may be done online on TRACpac, by phone, or e-mail.

A drop-box is provided on the East side of the building for after-hours returns.

If you move or change your phone number, please notify us as soon as possible to keep your file up to date.

So don't miss out, and if you don't have a library membership already, get your library card today!

You can search for books, DVDs, audiobooks, video games, and more using the online library catalogue, called TRACpac.  Visit the library catalogue at tracpac.ab.ca and login using the barcode number from your library card and your PIN. Regular items may be renewed up to two times, as long as there are no holds on the items. Some exceptions may apply. Board of Trustees

The Library Board has full legislative authority for managing and providing library services in the municipality. The Board approves annual budgets and has financial oversight of library operations. In addition, the Board determines service objectives for the library that are appropriate to the community's needs and re-examines them periodically. The Board also develops policies governing library programs and operations in consultation with the library's manager.

Breton Municipal Library is managed by a board of nine people who meet at the library on the third Wednesday of each month (except July, August, and December) at 7:00 PM. These meetings are open to the public. The following people are members of the board:
